Kudos!

It has been a busy spring for SAQA members.
Congratulations to SAQA-AZ member Linda Engstrom.  Her design is one of 6 to be included in the SAQA Urban Textures fabric line.  Andover is producing the line, which will be released at the SAQA conference in May!  Watch for BAT 7478, Urban Reflections.
Kudos are also due to members Sandra Branjord, Betty Hahn, Vicki Bohnhoff, Jessica Dickinson, Georgia Heller, and Francis Murphy.  They were all ribbon winners at the 2014 Arizona Quilters Guild quilt show.  It is no secret that our region has many talented members!
SAQA-AZ Co-Rep Mary Vaneecke is going to the SAQA conference in Washington DC at the end of this month.  Her Samarium 62:  No Relation will debut with the Radical Elements exhibition in Maryland.  Please be sure to email any member concerns/questions/requests with Mary so that she can bring them to the conference.

Many of you heard that we had considered a theme about Food. Please note, we changed that since SAQA announced a national Call for a new traveling exhibit centered on “Food for Thought” to debut this fall in England.  We felt this was a conflict, and our venue has graciously accepted this change.  We believe our new theme of “Journeys” allows for flexibility in interpretation and we offer the following on the theme:

“Some journeys bring us home.  Some take us to places we’ve never dreamed of.  And still others put us on a path to self-discovery.  “Journeys” explores how Arizona members of the Studio Art Quilt Associates interpret their own journeys (both real and imagined) in stitched layers of fabric or alternative materials.  Imagery and subject matter that interpret the many iterations of this broad theme are encouraged.”

Please remember, you must have your membership current in order to enter this juried exhibit.  Please check and if necessary, RENEW NOW!!!  If you have a friend that has been considering membership, please let them know about the exhibit and encourage their membership ASAP.
